TERESA CHEMOSOP

Teresa Chemosop is an Ogiek mother, teacher, translator, leader and facilitator from Mount Elgon, Kenya. She has been convening the East Africa women-led Indigenous Peoples Assemblies since 2022, and helped create the Laboot Declaration, and convene the Reworlding: Assembling for Change gathering.

Teresa is part of the coordination group between the East African women-led Indigenous Assemblies and the urban Social Justice Centres in Kenya, and has been to the UK to exchange experiences on running assemblies and on the potential they have, as well as to strengthen cross border alliances with like minded groups. She is a teacher by profession, works in the courts, and as a Swahili-English translator for Forest Peoples Programme and other organisations.
